An Adventure in Mount Cook National Park
Exploring Mount Cook National park was one of my favorite adventures in New Zealand so far. With towering snow capped mountains surrounding you, glacial rivers flowing below and amazing reflective lakes, it really is the dream place for photographers.
The place is so beautiful and the perfect place to create another video to share more of my adventures behind the photos I share.
This place was much more busy than my previous adventure video and so my fears of judgement from other people were really tested. Once I arrived at the first location at Kea point, a couple had already got there first and my initial response was, “nope, I’ll just come back another time, when it's quieter”. But I knew that this attitude will always hold me back. And so I got my tripod out and began to film my opening the bag sequence.
It got to one shot where I had a camera in my hand and I’d walk out to the incredible mountain view and pretend to take a photo before jumping off the rock. I did this a couple of times and each time, I went back to my camera to check the footage, and I could see a lady sheepishly looking at me.
I smiled and said hi, as if I was confident in what I was doing. She said hi back and I didn't feel judged at all. This was really an empowering moment for me as It gave me the confidence that I can film in front of others and it wont bother others one bit!!
This was an important lesson to learn as it was an awesome area with so many photography spots. If I had been worried about people watching me at any of these, i’d have never filmed any behind the scenes action and the whole adventure of this place would never get to be experienced by you.
So here it is. The fruits of my fears being faced and my passion for adventure and photography being nurtured.
I hope you enjoy it. So much more to come.
